Hardware Engineering Intern | PCB Design | Altium
Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (JLab), conducts particle research and is home to the Centralized Electron Beam Accelerator Facility (CEBAF). At JLab, I designed the schematic and PCB for a particle detector baseboard, which routed 480 readout strips from the detector to preamplifiers I also refactored the schematic and PCB for the rear transmission module of the detector's data acquisition system, changing the input from single ended to differential to improve signal integrity.

UVA Rocketry creates a new rocket every year to compete in the International Engineering Rocket Competition. My responsibility was to design the ground station schematic and PCB that communicated with the rocket during flight. This PCB used radio communication to display the rocket's altitude, speed and GPS coordinates.

At Alterea Inc I worked on Agents of Influence, a software funded by the Department of Education meant to teach media literacy and critical thinking. I started as a member of the team responsible for accessibility controls. I helped implement AI voice overs and audio queues to ensure the game could be played by fully blind users. After that task, I was put in charge of the team tracking user interaction and logging analytics. Throughout my internship, I also assisted art and content insertion teams by automating tasks using Python.

During the mentorship program, I worked with a JLab physicist to code an artificial neural network that was capable of calculating the deep inelastic scattering variables using data from the simulated Electron-Ion Collider. I then wrote a research presentation and presented my work to a board of STEM professionals. The code and results of this project can be found here.
